  1. Strong wind but the Bulls balanced it with weak tackling. 20 minutes to go; we were behind and looking second best. Widnes were gaining 70 and 80 yards on a set. Then Mitch Soutar scored an individual try out of nothing and suddenly we went from Handels Largo to All Pomp and Circumstance. The final score flattered us but I'm not complaining.
  2. I've watched Regan a few times on the telly. He looks to have lost weight, his tackling (not that he shies away from it) is flimsy and he doesn't come charging onto the ball. He plainly has not recovered all his former confidence. I think he needs an off season on the weights, an RL coach who believes in him and a set of fans that will get behind him. In short, Castleford.
  3. Regan Grace released by the Cardiff Blues.
  4. Already posted in Obituaries on the AOB forum: By Futtocks Mark Alun Jones, dual-code Rugby international. Career in Rugby League: Hull FC, Warrington, Wales and Great Britain. From that obituary: "Before Neath, where he was well-known for being one of the hard-men enforcers of the team" Mark Jones once gave an interview to the Western Mail saying his aggression on the field was heavily influenced by having a stutter that he was embarrassed about. That's why his natural personality off the field with people who knew him was different, as indicated in this obituary.
  5. Today was to be the second day of City of Culture Food Festival in Bradford. It's been cancelled because of predicted 60mph winds this afternoon. If these winds are that bad, they will have a major impact at Odsal, where the Bulls are playing Widnes.

  7. Fortunately, it ended relatively peacefully. https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/25184881.security-staff-called-amid-uproar-bradford-crown-court-verdicts/
  8. I watch a lot of the Walter Presents series on Channel 4. Rest assured, the overall viewing figure is much less than, for example, Eastenders and Loose Women. I'll be going to the Piece Hall to watch Human League this summer. I expect Coldplay will get a few more than that at Craven Park. Obviously, I'd really like to see them but, unfortunately, I've already arranged to cut my toenails on that night.
  9. In true Eurovision traditions, Remember Monday will be completely forgotten about by Next Friday.
  10. With Eurovision voting, you know what to expect. I went out to watch some live music.
  11. Probably why he couldn't afford a decent set of contact lenses.
  12. I thought the ref did a decent job in controlling what could have become a fractious ill-tempered game. He didn't police the 10 metres at play-the-balls very well, but that was the same for both sides.
  13. Got four. Anyway, enough of finance. No complaints about the result. The best team on the day won, quite comfortably in the end. The Bulls coughed and spluttered but the performance never materialised.
  14. No, that's just another complication.I won't do internet banking so I'd have to go into the detested HSBC to transfer funds. People who are lured into internet banking are making a rod for their own back. The banks just want you to do all the works so they can reduce staff numbers and shut banks. HSBC has just two branches and a digital services (whatever that is) branch to serve a Bradford Population of 500,000. I didn't even join HSBC . . . I knew it was a rubbish bank from admin-unit colleagues who had dealings with it at work. I originally joined the Midland Bank, which was taken over by HSBC. There is nowadays no Cooperative Bank in Bradford, I have to go to Leeds.
  15. Not really; I've just not registered with them. If she lost money, I'd reimburse her.
  16. I've three Debit Cards . . . one business and two personal. They've all got too much money in them to risk buying from somewhere I instinctively feel wary about. I got scammed once at a filling station so now I only fill up with diesel at Tesco. I've never bought anything fom e-bay and get my daughter to buy stuff from Amazon; she's always buying stuff for herself. I have bought RL World Cup tickets on the Inernet. I like to get my away tickets for Bulls games from the Office because it doubles as the Club Shop. I'm off out tonight but wouldn't dream of taking a card with me. If you carry £100 in cash, the most you can lose is £100. [Chapter 5; Verse 2 of The Gospel According to a Welsh Grandad]
  17. Leave him out; I'm biased because I've never particularly been a fan of him as a player. In fairness, his tackling has been better this season. However, when he's played this season, he hasn't done the line kicks or the place kicks . . .they've always been his strengths. I'd have Lilley and Matthews at halfback and Mitch Soutar at hooker. Ebon Scurr and Michael Lawrence are both back in the squad from injury. Not sure if we can risk both when our replacement props have done well without them. I'd have Bayley Liu and Tyran Ott on the bench because both can play in the backs or the forwards. I feel I can speak with authority on these issues because, a mere thirty-odd years ago, I was the Coach of Cleckheaton Under-11's.
  18. I've had this done a few times in my local Tesco supermarket carpark. It's annoying because I've got a van with widish front doors. However, as often as not, the perpetrator has then stayed in his car and is still there when I get back from shopping. It's apparent that he's skiving and/or sleeping and doesn't want to be openly seen by friends/employer/neighbours/partner etc.
  19. Just been to Odsal to get a ticket. York hasn't given the Bulls any to sell. So, for Bulls fans . . . get there early and join the queue.
  20. The Bulls have the capacity to play adventurous rugby but, unfortunately, they all too often revert to Kearball. That's what I fear on Sunday.
  21. Many people on here have slagged Jordan Lilley for being one-paced and limited in creating chances. But he's a brilliant tackler and works his socks off in both attack and defence. He's invaluable to the team effort. I've been watching for over 50 years and the most creative players are generally hidden on the flank next to the winger in defensive sets. My own hero, Johnny Wolford, was a standoff and creative genius . . . mesmeric with the dummy, sidestep and timed pass; all delivered with no pretence of footspeed! Johnny had started out as a loose forward, was pretty big, and could tackle really well when needed. However, he seemingly "preferred" not to do too much tackling ... often walking off an Odsal mudbath with a relatively clean shirt. He left as much tackling as possible to his partner Alan Redfearn, who was a scrum half in the Jordan Lilley mould. In my opinion, Mikey Lewis is the best "all-round" halfback since Andy Gregory at being as strong in defence as he is inventive in attack. Gary Schofield and (early) Ellery Hanley certainly deserve a mention. You can improve a player's performance with coaching; but you can't coach his instinct.
  22. I wouldn't want him to come back too soon. It's not worth the risk.
  23. Genuine question: What's happened to Bailey Antrobus at York? He's a seriously good player.
  24. The Cup? No we'll need to play in the Final to see whether we get that.
