Film Thread (What have you been watching?)

Tried to watch this last night, and thought it was terrible. Choosing what cereal I am going to eat isn't something that ever needs to be in a 'movie'. After being sent back a couple of times, you realise that it was pretty linear on top of being incredibly boring. May give it another go at some stage, but after giving it half an hour, I'm not sure whether I should give it any more time. -
I think there is some terrible writing (plenty of places online pulling it apart), and the acting from some very good actors is ropey to say the least. But there is something charming and enjoyable about the film. We have watched it maybe 7 or 8 times over the years, and it seems to have crept up as a bit of a classic!

Finally got round to watching Three Billboards the other night. I thought it was rather excellent, although a touch sillier than I expected. Some brilliant acting, I could watch Sam Rockwell and Woody Harrelson all day. Francis McDormand was outstanding. Extremely watchable ensemble effort. -

very jealous. Went to Tom Kitchin's place in Edinburgh a couple of weeks back, and tbh, the taster menu left me a little disappointed. Mostly decent food, apart from overcooked fish (Michelin star ffs), but the waiter trying to take our order when we hadn't been given menus, taking our glasses away without asking us if we wanted another drink with 2 courses to go (we had to wave a waiter down!), left a little sour taste in the mouth when I paid the £275 bill for lunch. I won't be going again. -

Some people (including companies) are just tools. Round here yesterday the advice waa quite clearly do not travel. And from 3pm it was red - risk to life. Yet many think they are too important - many spent the whole night stuck on the motorway. Watching from our apartment last night and people were still going out driving at 8pm despite this being 5hrs into the Red warning. Tucked up safely overlooking Arthur's Seat, it sure is impressive! -
Probably been discussed on here before, but finally become aware of "Damned". I love it. Caught up with the first season over a couple of nights last week and enjoyed the first episode of the 2nd, although they did make some of the comedy a touch sillier I thought. Great cast and some silliness along with subtle humour. Great stuff.

Was really disappointed with Season 3, although I haven't watched every one yet (because of being a bit bored with them!). I find some of them excellent, and some of them really quite boring and they go on, when the point could probably have been made in a 10 minute short. I'll give the last couple of episodes a go and work through season 4, but considering how much I loved the previous series' it has been a big let down imho.

I think these are new packages. One has a bank holiday weekend plus a midweek round and the other is two midweek rounds. I suspect it is to test broadcasting full rounds and monitoring impact on gates etc.
-
The two remaining packages dont seem that good tbh. If I am understanding correctly they are just 2 rounds each, but all games can be covered - making 20 games per year in each pack. Seeing as most of the games will be played at the same time, id be stunned if the averages are the same as for the other packs.
-
That is my concern, i am just using a treadmill at the moment and I dont want to embarrass myself through poor pacing.
-
I am very unfit and hate running, although I am decent at things like squash and badminton. Ill be giving ParkRun a go over the next few weeks as I have signed up for a 5k in Edinburgh in Jan. I know its not far, but for me thatll be a great effort! Looking forward to samplibg Park Run as only ever heard good things.

Is the old crossing still available though? Seen quite a few fb friends ranting vut not followed it much

How is it working MD? Why are people getting a bill for 700 quid?

Contactless is ace, and I say that as somebody who didnt get the point initially. In a bar it is so much quicker when buying drinks and transport can be so much better with it. Ive never met anyone who has been the victim of fraud with it, and working for a bank it doesnt appear to be an issue for customers.

Yeah we also did Namh and loved that too. We loved Bangkok but over 4 nights we did Namh, Gaggan plus a street food tour so I think its hard not to enjoy that as a foodie! Enjoy, very jealous. -

We went to Gaggan on our honeymoon 2 years ago. One of the best experiences of my life. Mind blowing. -
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2227120/All-20-Premier-League-clubs-wear-poppy-pride-Remembrance-Day.html According to this, Leicester City started it in 2003.

England and Scotland have both worn poppies in games a few years back too. So it's nothing to do with other countries, but there is an issue with inconsistency.
-
FIFA just have a stance on this kind of thing. Where does it end otherwise? Charities are ever more commercial now, even if their funds are for good causes.Im pretty sure the Scottish FA couldnt publicly say they didnt want this if they didnt, not that I am suggesting they dont. Wars are controversial, leave it out of sport if that is the approach FIFA have gone for. Im in line with Phil - i dont feel overly strongly about it, it doesnt offend me, but the outrage as though Fifa are insulting our war veterans is tiresome.
-
i do think it is commercial and politicised now, yes.In Scottish football there is controversy over the use of the poppy. Im not sure it needs to be part of team's shirts. FIFA's approach is to keep everything like this out of football and I have some sympathy with that view.
-
I think FIFA'S stance is perfectly fine. Its a football match ffs. People are loving being outraged.

Glad this finally got resolved. Can we lock it now? -
We've just finished watching the 4th series of Veep on Sky Box Sets and I must say after a relatively ropey 3rd series, the 4th was brilliant and back to its best.
-
just sticking to the show, i think the first couple of episodes have been excellent. Extremely sharp writing with both main characters really likeable, which is important with sharp and sarcy comedy.

its getting ripped on twitter.Always surprised that Hill's silliness has been so popular on mainstream with TV Burp. I like it, silly and lighthearted. Maybe SITE will grow on people.
