  1. It’s tight and probably tense at Oldham @ 2-2 ht, both teams having had a sin-bin, but now full teams.
  2. Absolutely - many claim to know the future too! https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/rochdale/forum/282874/hornets-on-sunday/#631 26 pages! Sadly, our Doncaster thread has muddied the importance of our win, especially with yesterday's stunning 40+ win by Keighley at NW Crusaders.
  3. Not seen it. It is set for limited theatrical release in May and on Netflix in selected countries on May 11......currently date not listed for UK.
  4. “It's looking pretty grim mate.”……on their forum. Hopefully not, the local derbies with Hornets, albeit certainly not as well attended as in yesteryears, are etched in time, heartaches and ‘rivalry’. Presuming that Oldham rfl supporters would prefer to be in Oldham rather than in Stalybridge….Oldham Athletic has scheduled a Fans XI v Latics XI for June 26 at Avro FC's Whitebank Stadium, with all proceeds being put towards the pot to purchase Boundary Park. The popular fan group Oldham Athletic Supporters' Foundation is also running a large fundraising campaign to secure the stadium. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwj6gJTLr4T4AhUvQEEAHW1mDH8QvOMEKAB6BAgGEAE&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.theoldhamtimes.co.uk%2Fsport%2F20172773.oldham-fans-can-pay-play-club-legends%2F&usg=AOvVaw3j2YDt94ddR00ql2OXLgMY
  5. The attendance is not shown in the link below, those of Hornets’ home games are missing after the Hunslet game in round 3!? Keighley and Cornwall are leading the numbers, but with under 4000 total in any 5 game round so far (Skolars c.180/game) it’s not a great picture. A game round for the Championship is around 13000 - 15000. 6. The two week break comes at good time before our tough and crucial 4 away fixtures (back home 31/7!). The first of these is at Swinton 12/6 (16.30 k/o), but Oldham may exhaust them the previous week! Until then, plenty of time to sort any problems and clarify to supporters the future of the recent (two week?) signings. Also, the rotation of all players will be crucial to enable us to be at least in the top 4 come 31/7 and the run-in. Good win in the end yesterday.
  7. Hornets 20-16 ahead at ht. After conceding a Donny try 9mins in, we made Donny pay for a yellow card, but then conceded a try/conversion just before the hooter. We seem to have missed some opportunities - and have now conceded another 12 points after 51mins! Not good- our defence seems to be getting worse! Thankfully, we narrow it to 26-28. And since we have been in great attacking mode with better defence and leading 46-28 with 1min to go. 46 -28 final score...great and important win but I guess still a few questions.
  8. It appears that yesterday’s young ref (and many refs in general) need to take a leaf from former Welsh ref Nigel Owens (Union, I know!). Firm and fair with explanation and sometimes humour, trying to keep the match alive for all spectators. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjgmPy3muT3AhXHbsAKHQ_kDB4QwqsBegQIIxAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DGQBreC7YdTc&usg=AOvVaw0Xgstl6T7uBIL7OphQLrWd
  9. And one of the rfl “elite” section! And nearly 1900 to see him! Just a little easier with two extra players!
  10. Well....! Following online, I felt for the faithful having to watch the implosion from a 10-4 Hornet lead and 16-16 after 57mins leading to the 40-16 final loss. Of course, the two Hornets players sin-binned in that 15 min period will be gutted too, the coaches no doubt - livid. Changing a winning integrated team for 2 games? Personally, I thought having three new signings (none of them sin-binned,) without any previous Hornets full match integration, at very least a huge risk, especially against Keighley and the high stakes. I hope they proved me wrong? The Donny home match now takes on even more importance, as do the others, if we are to keep in the top 4 mix.
  11. I wish it were Donny on the receiving end of Hornets 40-16 loss today! Having two Hornets players sin-binned in a 15 min spell from 16-16 all after 55mins didn't help!
  12. Good morning all…..trust you are looking forward to tomorrow’s game and that we have a great noisy following for this crucial game and with a lot of Keighley fans. Excellent previews of Hornets/Keighley from over the hill: https://t.co/dUXFCy6S2P https://keighleycougars.uk/pride-preview-rochdale-l1r822
  13. Certainly interesting and potentially exciting trio of signings, albeit two currently for a two week loan period! Perhaps they will entice much needed additional Hornet fans across to Keighley, otherwise some may only see the newcomers at the next home game v Donny. How the loanees integrate with our settled winning team in such a short period will be crucial. Certainly, we have a tough run ahead (5 away) and we need to be fully focused.
  14. "Don't panic!" "They don't like it up 'em!"
  15. Rob Worrincy comes out of retirement to sign for Rochdale Hornets.
  16. Hope that we shall have a good noisy following for this big game and that we can dent Keighley's winning run and enhance ours! They have the best defence in the division and we shall have to improve ours. A repeat of 23/5/2021 with our 36-43 win, but fewer for them!
  17. Richard Squires, the coach of Midlands Hurricanes, has been suspended from all Rugby League activity for three months from May 9 after breaching the RFL’s Operational Rules regarding betting on the sport. https://rugby-league.com/article/60006/statement-|-midlands-hurricanes
  18. Jy Hitchcock from Leigh to Rochdale Hornets, albeit for initial two weeks loan. https://www.hornetsrugbyleague.co.uk/article/1079/hornets-sign-jy-hitchcox-on-two-week-loan?fbclid=IwAR37uRzcoTUAVDyet3Tqr_0wnQMnuR4uhaKAPzlgfKllGK5cZ8bCFBm1wSo
  19. Given that Midlands' recent strong performance at NW Crusaders, losing only 18-22, our victory yesterday was very commendable. Of course the defence can often suffer when attacking rugby is foremost, as seen by our current stats. Certainly, the first half defence yesterday caused internet anxiety! Next week's away match at Keighley is obviousy a very different game. With Donny (h), Swinton (a), Hunslet (a), Midlands (a) & Oldham (a) to follow - certainly not for the nervous and may well determine our season. Our strong start should help these tough fixtures. The Calland/Thornton coaching team are melding a good mixture of youth and experience and certainly they will be fully tested.
  20. That was tense, especially 1st half, just following it on Twitter! Obviously, Midlands made us really knuckle down for a good winning 44-24 score in the end and hopefully they can continue that form with some of our close rivals. We seem to have a some good scores disallowed? Anyway, it was just the tough match we needed going into the next games. Defence will need to be top form. Well done Hornets.
  21. Ian Watson 10/21: “He’s another one that’s come off the production line, but he offers something different – he’s a big lad with great leg speed and he’s got the thing that you can’t teach: aggression. He needs to learn to manage that and control it but he’s got a great skill set. He’s got a great future and we’re impressed with how far he’s come over the last year and his application and effort with the first team this season.” He should be able see Huddersfield's cup semi-final at 5pm.
  22. Owfener, I am sure Hornets would forego normal procedures and find you a spot, somewhere! Cornwall put their hearts into it, but Hornets' experience and the class of Chase & co was too much. 50-Zero, Owfener, and away! Some poor handling at times in dismal weather conditions did not help the flow and would not help the holidaymakers. The roads home should be deserted and there could be a quick Hornets getaway to prepare for the bigger tests ahead.
  23. Cornwall put their hearts into it, but it was Hornets' experience and the class of Chase & co was too much. Some tougher opponents on the horizon, but so far, a very good start to the season.
