Is Lewis Murphy injured again? I don’t think he played last week and isn’t named this week. Doesn’t really seem to have got going which is a shame as I had high hopes for him
-
I agree that more French players need to be signed by SL clubs but I think the U19s can’t be signed by an English club due to not being in the EU
-
Great news for French RL. France U19s are on a par with England and I’d like to see Catalans and Toulouse sign as many of these as possible
-
I’d like England to be able to play Australia , NZ, Samoa and Tonga every year outside WCs and the opportunity to play at least 2 or 3 of those during a WC. I’d also like to give teams like France and Wales competitive tournaments every year and the opportunity to qualify to have a shot at the best teams in a 6N or WC
-
I agree. The focus for international RL should be to have regular competitions at all levels with some kind of structure to them. A yearly 6N with the 5th and 6th spots being up for grabs each year for qualifiers from regional tournaments. These regional tournaments could be tiered to ensure that as many countries as possible get to compete at their level with p and r between the tiers. I’d still keep a 8/10 team WC every 4 years with the countries from the previous years 6N plus 2/4 qualifiers taking part.

I agree that England vs Greece is pointless and not a good spectacle. Less teams and more intense games is the way to go. England didn’t get to play Australia, NZ or Tonga in the last WC and they’re the teams I want to see them play. I’d even consider an 8 team WC until some more countries are able to be competitive. Could look something like this Group A Group B England. Australia NZ. Samoa Tonga. PNG Fiji. Fr/Wa/CI/Lebanon

I disagree. Less teams should allow the better teams to play each other rather than the blowouts we had last time. There’ll be some good quality games all way through this time
-
Yeah I know. Imagine if money was set aside for the development of the game
-
Yeah I know. It’s a shame though. Imagine if both Toulouse and Catalans were able to run elite academies in the SL Academy League made up of the best 40 or so French U19s
-
In an ideal situation Catalans and Toulouse U19s should sit above the French U19s league with the best 40 or so players playing for these 2. That would require them to play in the SL Academy League which would be the best but most expensive scenario
-
Thanks for the info. Where are the best players? The Poles or the U19 league?

Will 2024 be the best NRL season ever?

How long did Lewis Murphy sign at the Roosters for? I wouldn't be surprised if Wakefield were trying to get him back for next season -
How many Pole Espoirs are there? Do Catalans and Toulouse also run their own U19s?
-
-
I just think they sign too many SH players and they don’t seem to offer enough opportunities for young French players. France U19s have just beaten England but how many of them will actually progess into SL?
-
London were too far off an SL place to spend money this season to make up enough ground. Hopefully they can regroup in the Championship and invest in the right areas to get up to a grade A or one of the highest Bs
-
It pains me to say this but I’m getting less and less convinced about the pros of having French teams in the SL and Championship. From what’s being said on here they aren’t putting much into the junior pathways because they are spending all there money on travel costs and the first team squads. I know Catalans have been a success but I’m not sure if they’ve had a positive impact on the game in France or the commercial value of SL. I’m saying this as someone who would really like to see a thriving game in France and has been a fan of French teams in the British League system
-
I think if GB does come back then they should tour once every WC cycle and host a tour once every WC cycle. That could leave the remaining year to have a European or NH tournament with each home nation playing as individual countries
-
Well, they beat England so it’s a pretty good gauge

Would Wales be able to put out a good academy side next season to possibly take in England and France?
