  1. That could backfire though. He brings the ball back well so should get us on a roll. If it's a broken line he could make some big yardage
  2. A NZ vs England WC final would be great promotion for next year's series
  3. Have the ticket sales passed the 400,000 barrier yet? They can't be far off
  4. I had to Google what the word meant. I couldn't find it in the RL dictionary
  5. There's a few ex footballers Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney, Stuart Pearce, Joey Barton, Chris Kamara. Also the Brownleee brothers, Jonny Vegas, Russell Crowe
  6. That's why making these regional tournaments qualifiers for bigger tournaments involving the top nations might work. Gives them something to play for and might encourage players to commit if they know they've got a chance of playing against the better sides the following year
  7. I like this idea. Could then run the regional tournaments underneath to qualify for federation shield. 4N - AUS, NZ, Samoa, England Federation - Tonga, Fiji, PNG, Lebanon Regional Top team in each group play off to replace bottom finisher in Federation Euro - France, Ireland, Scotland, Wales Americas- Jamaica, USA, Canada, Brazil MEA, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa Pacific - Cook Islands, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands At the end of year 3 the 4N, Federation automatically qualify for WC with the other 8 places determined with a certain amount of places available from each region and play offe.
  8. If he does decide to go to RU I don't think it will be about money as he'll be able to earn plenty in the NRL. For me I think it's the draw of playing in big international tournaments which sets RU apart from RL. Building big international events is the best way for RL to retain its players
  9. As a game we need to keep unearthing players like Dom Young, Jack Welsby, KPP, Morgan Knowles etc. The fact we can produce should good players on limited junior playing numbers compared to OZ shows how much talent there is in this country. Imagine how many we could produce if we increased the amount of juniors playing the game
  10. I'd like to see a NH style competition with Lebanon, Jamaica and Nigeria included at least once in a WC cycle. Wouldn't have England in though. Hopefully they could play in a 4/6 Nations at the same time. Would still want to make room for America's and MEA championship as well as the current Euro groups competition. Would like mid season tests also. Eng vs France, Wales vs Ireland, Scotland vs Jamaica etc
  11. A full strength Nigeria would probably beat South Africa and he competitive against Lebanon. I'd like to see Lebanon automatically qualify through the WC and Nigeria take the MEA spot.
  12. I keep coming on this thread to get some updates on tickets, teams, media releases etc but this argument is going on and on. Let's change the subject
  13. I watched an interview with Oledski who said coming here at 9yr old and found it difficult to make friends. Joined East Leeds and made friends
  14. It would be a positive if the RFL could engage the Ukrainian communities in England. Could be a good way of helping the kids integrate into their local communities and might even unearth some potential talent
  15. The problem teams outside the heartlands face is lack of players coming through the ranks. It will cost considerably more to entice players to a club if it means they have to relocate so they end up paying over the odds. It also means the team is unsettled as a lack of a production line means that there is always a lot of player movement each season. A serious effort for expansion for me needs a big junior development push alongside a club entering SL from outside the heartlands
  16. Wonder what combinations he will try out in the Fiji game
  17. I don't think there should be a league but having rep teams for those areas maybe playing a knockout competition might work
  18. I think Oledski is a good player but if anyone is going to dominate the other packs it will probably be Burgess
  19. That's the makings of a pretty strong team. If they could convince them to play they'd be a good chance of qualifying for next WC
  20. I think Nigeria has a lot of potential. A massive population as well as a sizeable population in the UK. What would a full strength Nigerian team currently look like?
  21. The nearest to this I could be happy with would be p and r with the promoted team having to meet certain criteria to get into SL
  22. Aren't South Africa and Morocco in this? Obviously Lebanon are in the WC so won't be in it this year
  23. I hope they don't exempt some from relegation and not others. It will spoil it for me. Either no p and r at all or bottom club gets relegated with Championship winners going up
