On the ticketing site it looks like they've now put the "Catalans end" on general sale, given they know the club won't sell all the tickets, using the 'alternating rows' strategy to make it look better than otherwise would. Fair play I suppose, it is what it is - I'd far rather have a Catalans final than us sell another 15,000 tickets to Saints fans. The competition diversity is worth more I think. The West Stand is still off-sale, presumably to be sold and filled by the winner of today's match... so means I might get to sit in the Stretford End!

I don't know why kids in Wigan want to go all the way to Manchester to watch Hull KR beat Catalans. I mean I know they all still love Sam Tomkins, but surely not that much?

Nope, that’s your projection. The point was a very specific one. Your club’s status is inorganic and rests solely on the the goodwill of one man, so you’ve experienced very directly how investment without any expectation of return does actually happen in rugby league, and does bring positive consequences. Huddersfield is a case study for optimism for Wakefield’s similar future. -

Yeah I know If all you ever remember are the failures, you'll never have the energy to be successful. It's all about what you do next. Rugby league fans love to wallow in what hasn't worked, and use it as a reason to be negative about the future, it's why rugby union is a global sport with millions attending its World Cup, whilst most of our league is made up of small town sides, in economically failing towns at that. I'll pose the alternative hypothesis: What would Huddersfield be like without Ken Davy? With the size of your fan base probably in the bottom half of the Championship. I'm glad Wakefield now have a shot at competing. -

Precisely this. Looking at their accounts they make 10x what Neil Hudgell's business makes each year, and he's managed to fund Rovers into a top 4 club. They can still mess things up even with money - look at Warrington! - but I don't think it's very likely they're doing this to then not follow through with their growth plans. It's not like they need the hassle otherwise eh. -

Do you want a new owner who says "things are alright, I'm planning on just making a few tweaks" after you've been relegated following many decades' of mediocrity both on and off the field? That's a proper rugby league fans response I reckon. I get the pessimism, I mean if they were one of life's optimists they'd have left Wakefield for better things years ago (), but it seems the Ellis family are locals who have got far more money than is needed to do the things he's talking about. Their business hasn't become successful by talking about stuff and then not doing it. Exciting times ahead. -

You'd like to think it opens up a new audience? Having been to Trin's ground many times, let's be honest unless you were enjoying food & drink in the Benidorm End boxes then it wasn't exactly the most glamorous or high-end live sport experience! I love a terrace, a pie and a pint me, but there's plenty of customers out there who want to sit in a decent seat in a decent stand with a concourse, who might not have attended Wakey regularly with the old set up. Wakefield have a large catchment, rugby league is the highest-level sport in town, there's a lot of headroom for growth I think. -

Yeah I reckon for a year it'll be fun. It was for us. For Leigh fans who were in the Championship every other year, or more, then maybe it got old more quickly. -

For me the best bit was visiting a load of grounds I hadn't been to for over a decade. Not sure I'd have enjoyed it so much if there was a 2nd season! -
The Transfer Rumour Mill Thread

It requires a pretty simple slice of code to not serve pages which name non-Leeds players. In fact, one single sentence of code would do it. I'm genuinely amazed that Fluid's content management system doesn't do it. Amateurish doesn't quite capture it. Great for stuff like this though, well played you two -

I might be being thick here, but I'm genuinely intrigued why those pages (and many others) exist? -
