  1. In the words of the famous song..... The NRL are having a paaaarty! And IMG are in the bin! Time to close this old friend of a thread?
  2. Tbf those flats are much further away than it looks on the photo..... The stadium is due a €200m (largely controversially public funded) overhaul to be a FIFA (spit) World Cup venue in 2030 so the savvy thing from the RFL would be to pencil in Magic for 2031
  3. Arriba España! 25 replies in and lots of possible stadiums in Spain mentioned. I can't believe no-one's mentioned the ground that's obviously staring everyone in the face..... Estadio de Gran Canaria. Home of legends.
  4. Oh! No way. I thought it was an entirely original idea of mine.
  5. No, I get you. It won't make players run or tackle harder. For coaches it'll be irrelevant as they try to make the all-important "Eight" in September. But for the fans and in the media, it'll stir up some interest, and to be crowned Queensland's official top dogs would be worth doing. I really don't know about the relationship between the QRL and the NRL, but perhaps the former would get involved in promoting from a new angle those 12 in-state fixtures annually.
  6. Following on from the roaring success of my Super League Grand Final @ Wembley thread, here's an idea I've been thinking of to spruce up the NRL. In 2023 the NRL got their fourth Queensland based club when the Dolphins joined the Broncos, Cowboys and Titans. Despite the vagueries of the fixture lists, these clubs play each other home and away every year (12 fixtures). My idea is simply to use each of those games as counting obviously as regular NRL fixture, but also as a just-for-braggibg-rights mini table of the Queensland clubs and hand out a trophy to the winning side. It would in no way detract from the NRL but would give the clubs involved a bit more needle in their fixtures against fellow Queensland clubs. Media outlets could give the league table an airing from time to time, especially for example this weekend when all four clubs face up against each other. Extra angle for a bit of marketing. I've emailed my old mate Peter de V'Landys but I've not heard from him. Like it? Why? Why not?
  7. Tbf most drivers do slow down there to get a good look at the famous Mill Pond Stadium.
  8. Hard to imagine anything more unethical.
  9. Wow. We never officially got to find out who that buyer was, but that sounds like a big blow to the plans to reform the club
  10. Thought it'd be nice to put this thread to the front of the queue one more time before Armageddon
  11. Perfect example of..... ? A professional rugby player? I don't know if he's perfect, but yes.
  12. Yes. Players' salaries being common knowledge seems to be much more prevalent in the NRL rather than UK
