  1. https://www.nrl.com/news/2024/03/28/new-nrlw-teams-announced-for-2025-competition/ 2 more for 2025. Warriors and Bulldogs. I really didn't think we needed another Sydney team yet.
  2. Thought this was pretty cool. Each NRL team to be featured on a $1 coin. NRL $1 coins
  3. Batley is exactly what you want in the second division after you finally get rid of P&R.
  4. I'm beginning to think NZ2 is such a no-brainer that NZ3 is a better idea than PNG, Adelaide and a 4th SEQld team....
  5. How about a 2nd PNG QCup team? I wouldn't be against it. NZ2 needs to happen basically now.
  6. Australian geography and demographics makes that basically irrelevant.
  7. Membership are now essentially a useless metric. The new Tasmanian AFL team has had $15 "memberships" for a week and have 150k members. It's now the biggest club in the AFL.
  8. The NRL has more states covered as a percentage than the NFL. Nobody says anything about the NFL not being national. A classic poor argument.
  9. Mate, you're way off with this one. Leave it in the 50s.
  10. Just read this. Nearly 20% of the NRL are eligible for Samoa. Insane. https://www.nrl.com/news/2024/03/21/like-a-family-how-samoa-are-connecting-with-huge-nrl-player-pool/
  11. Interestingly, that's about where the English game is right now. Frozen about 100 years in time.
  12. 4 nations that were told back in 2019 that they weren't up to standard and have been paid the $20k each year that full nations receive. So they have been paid between 4 and 6 payments and now continue to be funded while being noncompliant. The things I could do for rugby league with just one payment... The IRL needs to be held responsible for this. Some nations don't have (literal) balls.
  13. Perth and NZ2 could be a knockout punch for Super Rugby and rugby union as a whole in the whole region. I'd love to see it. For me they make sense. Timezones, NZ players, sponsorship money, stadia. It's all there for both. The Rebels are dead. A Christchurch team could eat away at the Crusaders even though they're historically the best team. Who would want to watch NZ teams bully Aussie teams until the end of time?
  14. As a Qlder who has travelled from bottom to top it surprised me just how insignificant AFL is in Qld. While I live basically on the southern border I was told AFL was making huge inroads into Qld which I assumed must be happening further north. I went on a 5000km drive a few years back and that couldn't be further from the truth. It is completely invisible while there were signs of rugby league everywhere.
  15. Those figures are normal for Swans and Lions. The other two are probably a bit bigger than normal. You have to understand the AFL is VERY strange when it comes to attendance. Although they get good attendance it's not really indicate if anything. I've met two Brisbane Lions fans in my life. One was a fairly casual fan.
  16. Wait, how bad is Taree because Moree is a bit of a hellhole.
  17. Troy Grant is entirely untrustworthy. I've been saying this for years. First a Cop, then a politician and now a sports administrator. The sooner he leaves the better.
  18. The difference is you guys have had 130 years to sort something out.
  19. I actually think SL makes a little more sense to push on the Americans because of the timezones.
  20. I couldn't disagree more. If we get another NSW team it will be a disaster.
