  1. They were offered a spot, but most of their players (and staff) are expected to move across and join Toronto Wolfpack shortly.
  2. True. It's probably a discussion for another thread though? All sorts of cultural issues involved, as well as the fact that their top league is ring fenced, whereas over here it is not. The problem in UK League is you have decisions being made for the pro game by clubs that are no better than amateur.
  3. Right... Bramley. "Pyramid". Any chance you could explain what this means? To most people, there is no pyramid. It is one of the weaknesses of the sport in the UK. A team can finish bottom of League 1 10 years running and never get relegated. A pyramid structure, by its very nature would prevent this. We have no pyramid. Where do Bramley sit in your pyramid? Are they even members of the RFL?
  4. This is truly the stuff of fantasy. What if the player just doesn't want to play? How much do England pay per game? What if a top player from the NRL/Wigan/Saints (for example) has no interest in travelling to turn out for England in a meaningless friendly because he has bigger fish to fry in the coming months, and has no wish to risk injury for a few hundred quid or whatever England pays?? This is absolutely NEVER going to happen. Total, deluded, fantasy, nonsense.
  5. Yet we still have dinosaurs on here (League supporters) saying that nobody will be watching, nobody is interested, and " so they don’t get accused of sexism by the professionally offended brigade. " #Deluded
  6. If Arsenal women's team can sell 60,000 tickets, and we can't even sell that many for a Challenge Cup final, then clearly we are miles behind where we should be. All the excuses and 'explanations ' in the world won't change that. England national team: 8000 Arsenal's ladies team: 60,000 We are going badly wrong somewhere. Using phrases like "sexism" and "professionally offended brigade" are not helping here. There clearly far more demand for women's football than there is for international League.
  7. Apologies if it was Eddie. I just get really frustrated when people in the League community belittle other sports which are (usually) far better structured and far more progressive than our game. I personally have very little interest in women's football. I am also not a fan of women's League particularly, but I still watched the York - St Helens game the other day. However thousands of people are (fans of women's football) and they have become involved from a base of almost zero a few years ago. League has gone backwards in the same period. Taking the attitude that your post did (and the "hammer.. head.. nail" guy after you ) is dangerous for the game, as it ignores the fact that other sports are literally racing away from us. Our fanbase is jammed full of dinosaurs and others who are completely deluded about League's popularity and the threat from other sports. I will be interested to see the viewing figures on the weekend. Sky are not stupid. If the women's football outdraws the Super League game, your post will look even more ridiculous. (I'm not saying the League won't get more eyeballs mind... I really have no idea which one will be more popular).
  8. You are wasting your breath mate. A lot of our fans still live in the 80s. Still think League is a major "sport of the masses" while other games race past us. Women's football, women's union, both outdraw us and get more media coverage. His national League team got 8000 people to an international game slap bang in the middle of League Country last weekend. Only 3 stands open. His post is incredibly ignorant, but he is not alone. This forum have several people of a similar mindset. I have posted elsewhere about the governance of the game being badly lacking. However responsibility has to start with the fans. This is yet another example of the delusional attitude much of our fanbase has.
  9. 100%. Am really surprised more people don't say this. Was on the AVE from Barcelona last night and the bar car had Mahou (which most people were drinking) or Estrella Damm. I went with Estrella as it was the "red Mahou" which although a bit more premium, I just find has too strong a taste. Green Mahou (Clásica) for me every time. For Super Bock... Cantabria up in the North. Quite a few places around there had it as the default draft option when I was last there. (The extra cold one, with the icy tap and the temperature display).
  10. That sounds like the sort of marketing garbage they spoon feed to northerners in rain-sodden pit villages, desperate for a taste of something exotic and European. Nobody here has ever heard of it though. I have told them it is one of the most popular beers in the UK and they look at me like I am mental.
  11. You do know that it isn't sold here though. Right? It isn't really Spanish. You are right about Spanish beer otherwise, but Madri is as good as non existent here.
  12. Yes. Absolutely. And I think they will, if Tonga end up looking more like the Super League All Stars team that ran out a couple of seasons ago. If both teams show up fully loaded (NRL guys etc) then it should be a decent series.
  13. Madri.... It's not really Spanish. They have it in my local Carrefour, but about 2 bottles on a shelf with all the other "niche" beers. Nobody here has ever heard of it. It's a UK product really. About 98% of sales are in the UK where it is basically a modified version of Coors Lite.
  14. It happens a lot on here mate. Try not to let it bother you. There was a guy on here last night accusing me of being involved with the BBC!
  15. My last 11 notifications, have been from you.
  16. A full strength Tonga could give England a real hiding.
  17. Am literally sitting head to toe in black, wearing a Warriors cap as I laugh at your (deluded) comment!!
