The minimum age according to the match day manual is 11.

It surprised me to learn that a ball boy/ girl is not allowed to throw the ball to a player after a penalty. The ball must be placed on the touch line for the player to pick it up!

Has always been the case Ron, even 22 years ago when I did it. Always used to throw to Barrow and place on the line for opposing teams....
