Magic Weekend wins major North East award

Recommended Posts

We played york on the friday before magic weekend last season which we call magic Friday and we got a crowd of 2600, we are aiming for more than that this magic Friday when we will again play york knights.

Was a good night, although I wasn't convinced by the Elvis impersonator! Gave it an 'event' feel I suppose if nowt else.

Great article. Do you think that playing a England game against the Aussies or kiwis at St.james park in this years 4nations could be successful.

I reckon that would be worth investigating for in a few years time, maybe after a few more magic weekends and if thunder can continue to grow.

"surely they've got to try somthing different now, maybe the little chip over the top?2

Maybe we should look at it the other way round in that the more top class rugby league both domestic and international taken to Newcastle this will help the thunder and RL to grow in the north east. I think that 30000 for England against the Aussies or kiwis at St James park is a realistic target.

I agree with Walter, the England team is undervalued as a spreader of the gospel. It should always be London, heartlands and one other - the England brand breaks through more than any other. Kids in Bristol or brum or Newcastle don't care about the things we worry about, they just excited by events. Not going back to Bristol for the kiwi tour was a strategic mistake, I hope they are braver with the four nations

Predictions for the future -

Crusaders RL to get a franchise for 2012 onwards -WRONG

Widnes Vikings also to get a franchise - RIGHT

Crusaders RL to do the double over Widnes and finish five places ahead of them -WRONG

Widnes Vikings NOT to dominate rugby league in years to come! STILL TO COME

I promise to pay 10 to the charity of Bomb Jacks choice if Widnes Millionaires finish above the battling underdogs Crusaders RL. I OWE A TENNER!

Until elland rd is upgraded I think newcastle should get a test against the kiwis or Aussies along with a London venue and the etihad in Manchester. No stadium with a capacity under 30000 should host a test against these 2 nations.

I think the Ricoh Arena in Coventry were 'schmoozing' folks from Red Hall a while back....that holds about 32k doesn't it? 2hrs drive from London, Hull, Leeds or Liverpool.......ideal for attracting Anzacs north and just near enough to encourage coachloads south.
