Dismal performance by Skolars. An utterly forgettable season is peetering out

It’s very easy to criticise Skolars from the outside, results wise - it’s a very poor season. I am not sure anyone internally at the club is surprised by where they are.

The drop goal was to take Oldham 2 scores clear and it had the desired effect. Oldham regained their ascendancy at the point and then scored again. When they were well in control in the first half but only 6-0 up they twice turned down a kick at goal in front of the goals to extend the  lead. In the end I think drop goal was to correct the first half bad choices

I'd agree with that. It was smart game management and it was then up to Crusaders to break down Yeds defence. Oldham played an intelligent game forcing the game into the Cru half and making us play the length of the field. We were in the game until the drop goal and conceding two tries in quick succession.

I remember twenty odd years ago when Fordy was player coach, he seemed to always take the chance of a drop goal as early as possible if he thought scores were going to be close.
