The NRL’s head of football Todd Greenberg said there is no chance of St George-Illawarra Dragons being awarded the two points they were robbed of on Monday night, when Melbourne Storm were allowed to score a match-winning try despite playing the ball after the full-time hooter sounded.
“It’s not going to happen, it was never considered and it won’t be considered,” said Greenberg.
“This issue from Monday night had nothing to do with the clock. It was a split-second decision from when the hooter sounded to when the referee decided to call time off – a split second decision. Almost simultaneous were the words we used.”
Had the right call been made, the Dragons, who have England half-back Gareth Widdop (pictured) in their ranks, would have had their first victory in Melbourne for 15 years.
