HULL KR head coach Willie Peters has given the latest on the future of Rowan Milnes as the former Castleford Tigers halfback looks for a new club for 2026.
Milnes was released from his Castleford Tigers contract to rejoin Hull KR, but was then shipped out on loan to Salford Red Devils.
The 25-year-old is without a club for next season, but Peters believes that the halfback is a Super League-quality player and deserves to remain in the top flight.
“Rowan wants to get a contract for next year and it’s important that he does that,” Peters said.
“He knows we can’t have him onboard next year so he’s pretty much playing for a contract. It’s important he goes out and plays Super League.
“I believe Rowan is a Super League player and he will add to any squad that needs a half.
“He will be able to be a leader in an inexperienced Salford squad each week and he will get consistency.
“People know what Rowan can do and he did some good things at Cas. They weren’t winning but he put in some good performances.
“He is still very much able to lead a group around the park.”
Peters also gave an update on the future of Danny Richardson, with the halfback currently on loan at York Knights.
“We will speak about Richo. This stage he will be at York for the rest of the year.
“But we will work something out in the next few weeks regarding whether he will be our player next year.”
