ST HELENS return to Hull KR with a point to prove on Friday after coach Paul Wellens admitted their last visit to Craven Park was a turning point in their season.
Since a chastening 34-4 defeat at the end of May – their fourth consecutive defeat to the Robins – Saints have won nine games from ten.
Wellens said: “When I reflect back on that day, it caused a bit of a reset for us as a squad. On the back of that, we’ve gone on a really good run of games.
“That was the last time I’d say we really let ourselves down as a team. Since then we’ve been outstanding.
”We will have to prepare well and we’ll have to suffer at times, but that’s the challenge against the team at the top of the table.
“To be able to go there compete and win would be outstanding for us. We know how hard we’ll have to work and how well we’ll have to play to get that done.
“We go there confident. We know we can win but we have a huge amount of respect for the opposition and what they’ve achieved in recent times.
“We know it’s going to be a tough challenge but one we’re confident we can rise to.”
