James Bell released by Hull FC

HULL FC have allowed James Bell to depart after just one season at the club – helping pave the way for fellow forward Josh Kerr to join.

Former St Helens man Bell, 32, made 18 appearances but has been released from the remaining two years of his contract to join another club amid reported interest from Bradford Bulls.

The Black and Whites have been linked with 30-year-old Australian Kerr following his release from St George Illawarra Dragons, where he played 19 times this year to add to 48 appearances for the Dolphins and 68 in his first Dragons stint.

Following New Zealand-born Bell’s release, new Hull coach Steve McNamara would need to shed one more of their overseas contingent in order to sign Kerr and keep within the limit of ten quota players.

Halfback Aidan Sezer, who served as captain in the previous two seasons, has been offered to other clubs while prop Sam Lisone was suspended pending an internal investigation in September with no resolution yet known.

Along with new signings Daly Cherry-Evans, Isaac Liu, Jordan Swann, Joshua Coric and Junior Pauga, Hull still have Herman Ese’ese, John Asiata and Cade Cust under contract.
