‘Just not good enough’: Jim Lenihan questions Huddersfield Giants’ toughness

HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS coach Jim Lenihan questioned his team’s mindset and toughness after they fell to their tenth Super League defeat in a row.

“It was bitterly disappointing today,” Lenihan admitted following a 36-24 loss to York Knights at Magic Weekend.

“The past few weeks we were taking steps forward, but unfortunately, we had a bit of a dip. Defensively, we were really poor.

“Our mindset, we have to find more resilience and toughness. We have to work a lot harder in our consistency.

“We’re still learning and struggling if our game plan goes off course. At the moment, it’s just not good enough. We got a bit loose, not enough physicality – unfortunately, we got what we deserved.”

Lenihan was surprised there was no punishment for the Knights after Asher O’Donnell was injured early on.

“Ash had a hip drop on him,” he said.

“It should be something. I’m not exactly sure, but if it’s a clear hip drop it should be something. If they’re on report, you’d like to think we get some benefit.”

Lenihan said O’Donnell left the game in a boot, with the extent of his injury unclear at this stage, while Fenton Rogers also picked up a knock to his ankle.
