Leeds Rhinos star praised after long-awaited comeback

LEEDS coach Lois Forsell was delighted to see Ruby Enright back in action as the Rhinos got their Challenge Cup campaign underway with an 82-0 win over Leigh.

Enright, who has been out of action since July 2024 with a shoulder injury and then compartment syndrome (pressure within the muscles) in her legs, started on the wing and scored a try inside the first minute, going on to complete a hat-trick.

“It was great to see her back out there after a long time out with injury and then scoring the opener,” said Forsell.

“She’s worked really hard to come back and has gone about what she’s done quietly, but she’s really grafted to get herself back into a good spot.

“She’s been very determined over her rehabilitation to make sure when she got back she was in a good position.

“Over pre-season we have seen all the outside backs challenge each other and she’s led in that and made everyone see that you can work hard and kick on no matter what.

“I know she is going to keep pushing week in, week out so I hope we can keep her fit and see her have a great season.”

Forsell also praised Paulianne Wambalu, who became the latest Academy graduate to make a first-team debut.

“It is a credit to everyone who has been involved in Paulianne’s journey and it’s great to see her come through,” added Forsell.

“She has worked hard all pre-season and is balancing her university career as a nurse and travelling from Sheffield for training.

“So when you get the opportunity, it’s nice to reward that hard work, and I know that game will only make her hungry for more because she produced a really good showing.”
