MIDLANDS HURRICANES recruit Liam Sutcliffe is ready to use his experience to help Mark Dunning’s side reach the Championship play-offs – and make an impact.

The versatile former Leeds Rhinos and Hull FC back has signed for the rest of this season after leaving Huddersfield Giants, where he has had two injury-hit campaigns.

The 31-year-old ex-England international who was a 2017 Super League Grand Final winner with Leeds is fit again, and recently played for Halifax Panthers on loan.

Now he’s aiming to bolster Birmingham-based Midlands, who host leaders London Broncos on Sunday.

“I’ve heard nothing but great things about the club and speaking to Mark made my decision to sign a lot easier,” he said.

“I’m really excited to get going here. I want to help us push for a place in the play-offs.”

Dunning, who has guided his charges to ten wins and a draw from 18 league outings so far, added: “I’m delighted to welcome Liam to the club.

“With our injury list currently in double figures, we were on the lookout for the right person to come in and add quality to our group and that is certainly something he will bring.

“Liam has hundreds of senior appearances under his belt and his ability to play in a number of positions is going to be invaluable to us. I’m sure our fans will be delighted and excited to see him in a Hurricanes shirt.

“After finding out he had left Huddersfield, we had to act quickly to ensure we got our man and that is what we did.”
