NORTH WALES CRUSADERS have added professional experience to their squad with the signings of Bailey Dawson and Brad Clavering.
Dawson has left Goole Vikings to link up with Crusaders in the wake of their club-record 134-0 defeat on Sunday.
A former Hull KR and Castleford Tigers prospect, the 23-year-old forward hasn’t played in the current campaign but made ten appearances for Goole last season and 17 with Dewsbury Rams the year before.
Prop or loose-forward Clavering, 28, has been without a club since leaving Hunslet at the end of last year.
He made 60 appearances in seven years at Midlands Hurricanes (formerly Coventry Bears) then featured 13 times in his season with Hunslet.
North Wales have also recruited young Oldham pack pair Sam Littler and Marcus Geener on loan for the rest of the season.
Littler has made one Oldham appearance to date and Geener three.
The reinforcements come after the reformed club suffered a fourth heavy defeat in four matches since a new company took over their playing licence.
After sports goods retailer EggChaser pulled their funding, former owner Jamie El-Kaleh stepped in to keep North Wales going, but with none of the previous senior squad retained.
El-Kaleh released a statement after the 25-try thrashing by London, calling for fans to maintain their “loyalty, passion and belief”.
He said: “We know the performance on the pitch fell short of the standards we want for this club, and we understand the frustration and disappointment felt by our supporters.
“Just four weeks ago, our biggest fight was making sure North Wales Crusaders still had a future. Together, we have taken some huge steps off the field to protect the club, rebuild trust and give the Crusaders a foundation to move forward from.
“Rebuilding a club from the brink is not easy. There will be difficult days, painful results and bumps along the road. But it does not change our belief in what we building, and it does not change our commitment to doing this properly.”
