Sauaso Sue future latest as Willie Peters backs Hull KR forward following red card

WILLIE PETERS believes Sauaso Sue would ‘deserve’ another contract at Hull KR, with the head coach backing the forward following his red card against Wakefield Trinity at the weekend.

Sue was handed a one-match ban following a Grade D Striking charge on Wakefield’s Tray Lolesio – an action which saw him sent off by referee Aaron Moore.

Peters has reiterated his backing of Sue in the aftermath of that ban, saying: “As I said after the game, it was out of character and Jesse got it wrong. We accept the week.

“Jesse is a massive part of what we do, he’s so important to our squad with the way he starts the game and what he does in and around the place.

“I’ve spoken many times about how we appreciate him, and how I appreciate him as coach with what he does for this team.”

Peters also feels that the 34-year-old could play on in 2027 after being with the club since 2023.

“He was one of the first people I brought over at the time and initially, we thought it was going to be a two-or-three-year deal.

“Then he extended, and who knows, the big fella might go round again next year and deservedly so.

“He’s still on top of his game, that’s for sure.”
