WHAT would have been the last fixture in the Pennine League’s near-50-year history did not – and will not – take place.
Farnley Falcons were due to host Boothtown Terriers in a Division Three game that would have been the competition’s last, the Rugby Football League having stated that their Yorkshire Men’s League will provide winter rugby for any teams that may request such fare in future.
However Pennine secretary Sue Taylor told League Express: “Leeds City Council called all games off again for the third consecutive week.
“We could not go on indefinitely, so both teams and the management agreed on a draw. The final curtain is now down on the Pennine League.”
