Powell disappointed with Massey suspension

Castleford coach Daryl Powell admits he’s disappointed with the “inconsistency” of the disciplinary system, after he lost forward Nathan Massey to suspension this week.

Massey had never been suspended before in his entire career, but will sit out Friday’s visit of Hull FC after being copped with a one-game ban for a Grade B charge of striking, which the club contested at Red Hall this week.

“I am (disappointed with Nathan Massey’s outcome; I think there’s a lack of understanding of the game at times from people who are making decisions on whether people should play,” Powell lamented.

“It’s inconsistent. Mass has made contact with Rangi Chase who has slipped, which has altered his height by about three feet, but that doesn’t seem to get taken into account.

“I’m pretty disappointed with how that’s turned out, because I think he’s been pretty unlucky.

“He’s never even been suspended before – he didn’t even know where Red Hall was.”
