RYAN CARR has allayed fears that Castleford Tigers veteran Liam Hood could be set to retire.
Hood suffered a serious neck injury in Castleford’s 24-14 away win at Wigan Warriors back in April and was later told by doctors that he was lucky not to have broken his neck.
Initially, it was thought that the 34-year-old may have to retire, but Castleford boss Carr has revealed that Hood has now returned to training.
“Hoody got some really god news off the neck specialist, he is starting to return to training.
“Being the competitor, he is he wants to do more every day but it was really bad.
“It was scary stuff and he was in a bad way for two weeks after that and couldn’t move.
“He’s one of the toughest people I’ve ever coached but fortunately he’s come out the other side of it.
“If we could shave a week off his return then we would be happy.”
