Ryan Carr bites his tongue after contentious Castleford Tigers loss

RYAN CARR refused to be drawn on the controversial moments that peppered Castleford Tigers’ 24-14 loss to Leigh Leopards.

The Tigers ran into an 8-0 lead only to be cut back by an obstruction decision that handed Leigh the chance to make it 8-6.

Another incident saw the Leopards’ Jack Hughes strike Krystian Mapapalangi with a forearm to the latter’s face, only for that to go unpunished, despite it occurring in front of the touch judge.

Carr, who has been fined £1,000 in the past for post-match comments, kept his cards close to his chest after the game.

“It was a game of moments but I can’t say anything because I’ve already been fined,” Carr said.

“I think the moments I’m talking about we could have controlled and I said that to the boys.

“When your backs are against the wall and you’re not getting much, you’ve got to absorb that and come out the other side.

“Everyone knows my thoughts and I’ve said it before but I’ll go back and have a look at the decisions that have gone and I can’t change it.

“Krystian Mapapalangi was frustrated that he got a forearm to the face and I feel bad for him.

“We’ve got to get on with it and accept it. He’s alright, hopefully there isn’t anything wrong with his face but we will see.”

There was one injury concern as Brock Greacen failed an HIA, whilst Carr explained why Jack Brown didn’t make his debut after signing from Hull KR.

“Jack was close, but he played in London for the Challenge Cup Final at the weekend and joined the squad this week.

“We wanted to make sure we give him a good run.”
