Wigan Warriors head coach Shaun Wane hinted that he has verbally agreed to a contract extension with the Super League champions.
The 49-year-old’s current deal runs out at the end of this season and there has been heavy speculation about a move to New Zealand Warriors in the NRL. Speaking at Wigan’s media day in Orrell, Wane denied a move down under and instead spoke of a conversation he had with chairman Ian Lenagan.
“I had a chat with Ian in America and we’ve agreed a long-term contract but it’s not been signed yet,” he said.
“I want to stay here for the next few years but I want to better myself, and if I can do that elsewhere, then it’s exciting, going to the NRL. It’s something I want to do.”
