Leeds Rhinos coach Brian McDermott insists captain Kevin Sinfield still has a role to play in their season despite being left out of the team on Thursday night.
Sinfield was dropped by Leeds for the 24-24 draw against Huddersfield, and the Rhinos boss explained that although he wasn’t in the 17 this week, he still very much has a role in 2015.
“I can understand why you’d think it was a big call, but Liam Sutcliffe and Danny McGuire have been sensational recently,” McDermott explained.
“Kevin still has a role to play for us; he’s a fantastic player and a fantastic sportsman. He wasn’t happy about the news but he’s a real pro.”
“You admire him for what he does on the field and for how he conducts himself off it as well.”
