South Wales Jets into Grand Final of Welsh Wheelchair league

SOUTH WALES JETS booked a spot in next month’s Grand Final, at Llandrindod Wells Leisure Centre, with a 78-18 win over CARDIFF BLUE DRAGONS yesterday at Tonyrefail.

Jamie Reynolds led the way for the Jets with four tries and nine goals, while Jason Reynolds and Dane Oram also crossed on four occasions. Brogan Evans bagged a brace and Leighton Morris nipped over; Cardiff’s response involved touchdowns by Lee Sargent, Tomos Parker and Anthony Pennell (the latter entering the fray in the second period as a guest player because of a spate of injuries in the Blue Dragons’ camp). Libbie Sargent (2) and Lee Sargent kicked the goals.

NORTH WALES CRUSADERS or Cardiff will meet the Jets in the decider. The Crusaders and the Blue Dragons go head-to-head next Sunday in what amounts to a qualifying league game and Norths will probably be viewed as strong favourites after beating ABER VALLEY WOLVES 56-30.

The Wolves were only 18-10 behind on 23 minutes but, in the end, were limited to two tries and three goals by Anthony Pennell (for his parent club) and a Riley Jones brace; Lloyd Stonehouse and Harry Pennell closed the account.

Fionn McCabe was close to unstoppable for North Wales and contributed seven tries and three goals. Jonathan Gill chipped in with two tries and a couple of conversions, Ethan Neilson added a touchdown and a goal, and Stuart Williams popped in.
