ANTHONY MURRAY was pleased to see “kingpin” Jordy Gibson pass 100 points for Swinton Lions against Halifax Panthers.
The halfback, who went into the game needing just one point to surpass the milestone, scored a try and three goals in his side’s eventual 30-22 defeat at The Shay.
He played a starring role for the visitors, who, after fighting back to tie the game at 22-22, were eventually undone by a Darius Carter penalty goal and Ben Crooks try in the closing stages.
Gibson, currently enjoying a second spell with Swinton after previously turning out for the club 55 times across the 2023 and 2024 seasons, has scored two tries and 15 goals since his return from North Wales Crusaders in April.
“Jordy’s a great player,” said Murray, who has worked on-and-off with the 34-year-old since 2020.
“It was me that signed him for North Wales Crusaders all those years ago; he was playing at Haydock in the North West Counties believe it or not!
“I came across and signed him for North Wales, and he’s never looked back.
“He’s had a great career at this level, and to be honest, he’s been a bit of a kingpin for us. He really takes our team round the field.
“He’s a great player, and credit where credit is due with him passing that milestone in his career with 100 points. That’s great news for Jordy, and for us as a club.”
