Tevita Pangai Jr ‘will only get better’ after Hull KR debut

WILLIE PETERS believes there’s much more to come from Tevita Pangai Jr after the prop impressed on his Hull KR debut.

The former Catalans Dragons man came off the bench as the Robins registered a 38-6 win over York Knights.

“He’s only going to get better. He hasn’t played for nine months,” said coach Peters.

“He’s been with us for a few weeks now and he’s not the finished product.

“He needs to obviously get fitter. And he’s doing a great job with his nutrition and that type of thing. I was happy with the way he played.

“I thought he changed the game for us in terms of momentum and got some offloads.”

It wasn’t a perfect performance from Hull KR, who went behind early on.

Peters said: “We started okay, then against the run of play we went for a short drop-out and they scored.

“I like the way we responded to that and we found our feet, our groove.

“But in the second half we probably should have gone on with that – we had all the momentum.

“Then we gave it back and then we defended our line at the back end of that game.”

Oliver Gildart failed a head-injury assessment so will miss next Friday’s visit of Leigh Leopards.
