The Super League sides that have conceded the most penalties, scored the most tries and has the best and worst conversion rates

RUGBY LEAGUE fans love a good statistic, especially when it concerns their own team.

Being a third of the way through the 2023 Super League season with an international break looming, we thought it would be interesting to see how the top-flight sides have fared during the year so far.

Here are the Super League sides that have been awarded the most penalties, have scored the most tries and have the best and worst conversion rates.

Most penalties

Interestingly, Salford Red Devils have conceded the most penalties with 62, with Wakefield Trinity in second with 58.

Hull FC are next in line with 57 as Castleford Tigers sit in joint fourth with 54 alongside Leeds Rhinos and Hull KR.

St Helens are seventh with 50 as Warrington Wolves lurk just one behind on 49 with Wigan Warriors and Leigh Leopards on 47 each.

Impressively, Catalans Dragons have conceded just 43 and Huddersfield Giants just 41.

Most tries

Of course, every fan wants to see their side play attacking rugby league, so which Super League club has scored the most tries?

Unsurprisingly, Warrington sit at the top of the pile having scored 46 tries in a scintillating season so far, with Wigan second on 43.

Hull KR aren’t far behind with 40 tries as Catalans sit in fourth with 38. Leeds are fifth with 35 as Leigh and Salford have scored 33 each.

St Helens are next with 31 as Huddersfield slip to tenth with just 26 tries. Hull FC are just one try behind the Giants with 25, but it is dismal reading if you are a Castleford or Wakefield fan.

The Tigers have dotted down just 16 times whereas Trinity a mere nine!

Best and worst conversion rates

Everyone loves an accurate goalkicker with two points sometimes proving the difference between winning and losing a close Super League fixture.

Warrington have registered 40 goals but have missed 11 – a 78% conversion rate – whilst Salford have sent over 37, missing just six – an 86% conversion rate.

Hull KR have converted 34 tries, missing 12 for a 74% conversion rate, with Wigan converting the same number but missing 16 which equates to 68%.

Catalans have converted 32 tries, missing 14 – 70% conversion rate – whilst Huddersfield have missed just eight, converting 31 in the process – a 79% conversion rate.

St Helens are next, converting 28 tries but missing nine – a 76% conversion rate – with Leigh converting 26 but missing 14 – a 65% conversion rate.

Leeds are there with 24 conversions but 12 having missed – a 67% conversion rate – as Hull FC have converted 19 but missed seven – a 73% conversion rate.

Again Castleford and Wakefield bring up the rear with the Tigers converting 17 and missing just three but that means that the West Yorkshire side actually has the second best conversion rate in Super League with 85% conversion with Trinity missing three but converting just nine – a 75% conversion rate.
