Tyler Dickinson hails crucial win for Midlands Hurricanes

MIDLANDS HURRICANES prop Tyler Dickinson says delivering a first win in six league games against Goole was crucial as Mark Dunning’s side went into a spell of more than two weeks without a fixture.

The heat was on in more ways than one on a baking Birmingham evening as the Canes targeted that victory in their second match in three days after a 24-6 home defeat by Swinton.

Mark Dunning’s men gained a 38-22 success last Tuesday with Dickinson among seven try-scorers, and will now seek a follow-up when they go to Batley, one of Dickinson’s former clubs, on Sunday July 12.

The 29-year-old, who has also played for Halifax and Sheffield, said: “It was scrappy, but that was to be expected with the conditions and our previous results, which maybe drained a bit of confidence.

“The most important thing was that we got the win and put a few points on the board. It’s boosted the boys going into this break from matches and for what’s to come after it.

“It was tough to have to go again so soon, but on the flip side, we wanted to get back on the horse after being disappointing against Swinton.”
