Wakefield head coach Brian Smith has returned to England as Wakefield return to pre-season training, and said there was never any doubt about his return as head coach.
The Australian guru joined the Wildcats halfway through last season and managed to keep Wakefield in Super League.
Speculation surrounding Smith’s future was rife after Wakefield’s survival, with chairman Michael Carter admitting he was unsure about Smith’s status for 2016.
However, Smith agreed to stay at the Wildcats and has put together a strong squad, drafting in the likes of Ben Jones-Bishop and NRL star Anthony Tupou.
Speaking to TV Yorkshire, Smith admitted he was surprised by the level of quality he has managed to assemble.
