GOOLE VIKINGS are good enough to make the play-offs according to their experienced prop Liam Watts.
Having spent their first season in the professional ranks in League One, finishing seventh, Scott Taylor’s side have stepped up to the merged Championship.
That has brought its challenges, but Goole still have a chance of making the top ten.
And Watts, who has more than a decade of top-flight experience with Castleford, Hull KR and Hull FC under his belt, insists they will keep pushing.
“There’s no question about us being good enough to get there,” he said.
“I thought that when I joined the club (in early January) and saw how they had gone in pre-season – it’s a talented bunch of lads.
“What we might lack in experience or budget, we make up for with hard work and a real togetherness, and we’ve shown that on our day, we can compete with anyone in the division.
“We’ve had a lot of injuries, which has really stretched us, so it’s not going to be easy – we know that.
“But if we can get our best team on the field, I genuinely believe we can have a late push.
“It has given us a target for the last part of the season. The lads are up for the challenge and it would be a massive achievement if we could do it.
“Even just to finish mid-table for this group would be another huge step forward.”
