Wheelchair Super League round-up: Halifax Panthers see off London Roosters

HALIFAX PANTHERS remain top of the Wheelchair Super League, after seeing off the challenge of their nearest rivals, LONDON ROOSTERS, winning 68-30.

The reigning champions were dominant in the first half, with Rob Hawkins scoring five tries and two goals. Joe Calcott went over for two tries and Finlay O’Neill one, with Wayne Boardman adding four goals to put the score on to 44-12 at the break.

The second half was more even, at four tries to three, Jack Brown scoring a hat-trick of tries for Halifax and Cian Horgan one. Boardman and Hawkins added two more goals each.

London replied with a Joe Coyd hat-trick of tries, two of which he scored in the first half, plus there were second half tries for Mason Billington and Jason Owen, the latter being 100 percent with the conversions, landing five out of five in the game.

LEEDS RHINOS hammered BRADFORD BULLS 150-4 after being 68-0 up at half-time, in the first meeting in 11 years for these two old rivals at Wheelchair Rugby League.

Josh Butler did a lot of the damage for Leeds, scoring 11 tries, but Nathan Collins led on points for the game, scoring 60, thanks to his six tries and 18 goals.

Cameron Hills chipped in with four tries, with Charlie Wagstaff scoring two tries and kicking five goals on his Super League debut. Also going over twice for Leeds was Tristan Norfolk, with Jodie Boyd-Ward scoring the one try.

Michael Potter scored the lone try for Bradford, when the score was at 102-0.

SHEFFIELD EAGLES came back from being 32-16 down at half-time at EDINBURGH EAGLES, to win 70-38.

In a topsy-turvy game, Sheffield were 16-4 up on 15 minutes thanks to two tries and two goals from Joe Wink-Simmonds, and a lone try from Chris Haynes.

But Edinburgh deserved their half-time lead after Calum Davidson scored a hat-trick of tries and converted three times, with Arran King grabbing a brace of tries and Stuart Williams one.

The second half was a different story. Luis Domingos scored two early tries, with Haynes and Wink-Simmonds each adding one. Wink-Simmonds converted twice and Sheffield were now 36-32 up.

Davidson hit back with a try and goal to make the score 38-36 to Edinburgh as the game approached the hour mark, but the final quarter was all Sheffield.

Wink-Simmonds added two more tries and seven goals, that included two penalties. Sid Ramsey, Stephen Reilly and Domingos chipped in with further tries.
