WIDNES VIKINGS coach Allan Coleman has finally completed his mission to get centre Kieran Taylor to the club from North Wales Crusaders.
The 25-year-old, who can also operate in the second row, makes the move from Colwyn Bay to the DCBL Stadium on a contract to 2027 after three years with the Crusaders, who were this year’s League One champions.
Taylor played in 21 of their 22 games in all competitions, taking his overall appearance tally to 66 (with 18 tries) since stepping up to the professional ranks from Orrell St James.
“It’s fantastic to get Kieran on board,” said Coleman, whose side finished seventh in the Championship.
“He’s a player we wanted to get in last year, but just couldn’t quite get it over the line, so a big thank you to the club and the board for helping get it done this time around.
“Kieran ticks the boxes for what we’re after. He’s strong, powerful, and quick. He’s at that age we identified, where we can have him in the team for a few years and he can develop with us.”
Taylor added: “I’m really looking forward to making the step up and seeing what I can bring to the team.
“My game thrives on hard work and the tough stuff. I’m hoping to show that and prove I have been signed for the right reason.
“I’m really looking forward to working with Allan. I feel I can learn a lot from him and Woody (assistant Tom Wood) to take my game to another level.”
Coleman (pictured) had already signed unattached former Super League halfback Jordan Abdull on a one-year contract and former Widnes prop Jay Chapelhow from Oldham on two-year terms.
Taylor’s addition proved a current squad of 21, with eight on deals to 2027 and hooker Matty Fozard to 2028.
Australian backrow Ben Condon, who joined Widnes on a short-term deal in June, has signed a two-year contract at Catalans Dragons.
