Wigan to begin cup defence at Dewsbury

Wigan Warriors will start the defence of the Challenge Cup with a trip to high-flying Championship outfit Dewsbury, in a fourth-round draw that has thrown up some absolutely huge ties.

Arguably the standout tie of the round is last years league leaders, Huddersfield Giants, up against the current table toppers of 2014, St Helens. It is another meeting with former club Huddersfield for Nathan Brown – who took the Giants to Wembley in the Challenge Cup when they lost out to Warrington.

Both Hull clubs have been dealt home ties, although they will both face Super League opposition in Round Four. The Rovers have a tricky looking tie at home to 2012 winners Warrington, whilst Lee Radford’s men face the Salford Red Devils in another all-Super League clash.

There is a fascinating West Yorkshire derby in prospect for the unbeaten Castleford Tigers, as they head to Mount Pleasant to face John Kear’s Batley Bulldogs, in another superb cup tie.

Another local derby sees Wakefield take on Leeds, with the Rhinos once again drawing a fellow Super League side in the fourth round, as they make the trip to the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.

The team that have been chosen to make the long trip to the South of France are the London Broncos, with Super League’s two “expansion” clubs locking horns in Perpignan for the right to make the fifth round.

Championship side Halifax have a home tie against a Super League outfit, with the impressive Widnes Vikings making the trip to The Shay to take on Karl Harrison’s men.
