Warrington Wolves are the latest club to have announced their squad numbers ahead of the new Super League season.
And their squad will be one of the most experienced in Super League this season.
New recruit Greg Inglis will wear the number three shirt vacated by the departed Anthony Gelling, with other new signings Robbie Mulhern and Rob Butler allocated the number 19 and 21 shirts respectively.
Joe Philbin, who signed a new contract recently, will wear the number 13 shirt vacated by Ben Murdoch-Masila, who has left the Wolves to join the New Zealand Warriors.
The players promoted into the top 20 squad numbers are Matt Davis, who moves into Philbin’s number 15 shirt, Danny Walker, who moves up from number 20 to take the number 16 shirt vacated by Leilani Latu, who was revealed to have left the club last week, Matty Ashton, who takes Jake Mamo’s number 17 shirt, moving up from number 26, while Mamo drops to number 18, worn last year by Sitaleki Akauola, who drops down to fill Walker’s number 20 shirt.
The average age of Warrington’s top 20 players is 28 years, which is significantly higher than the average, with seven players aged 30 or over.
But when squad numbers 21 to 29 are added to the mix, the average age drops to 25.
Jacob Gannon is the only player given a squad number (no. 29) who has yet to make his debut for the club.
