Workington Town keep Callum Phillips after comeback season

WORKINGTON TOWN have been boosted by the retention of Scotland international hooker Callum Phillips.

The 33-year-old returned to regular action in 2025 after a lengthy injury absence, and made 19 appearances.

Gorley added: “When Callum signed for us last season we were both a bit apprehensive regarding his injury that kept him out for well over 12 months.

“I backed him 100 percent and Callum being Callum, one the fittest, most dedicated players I’ve ever coached, did the ‘Callum thing’ and gave himself the best possible chance to play at this level again.

“By the end of the season Callum was one of my top performers. He’s extremely strong, and defensively he brings a solid, hard hitting and relentlessly high work rate and leads from the front.

“Callum is a natural leader with high standards and doesn’t let anyone cut corners at training, it’s great to have him go round again. Ultimately, he deserves huge credit for getting fit and I’m really pleased for him.”
