BATLEY BULLDOGS coach James Ford plans to build some injury wriggle room into next season’s squad.
Experienced halfback Josh Woods is out for the rest of this year due to a leg fracture and ligament damage.
Meanwhile Felix Ellis, the outside back signed from amateurs Dewsbury Moor ahead of this campaign, has had a shoulder problem.
“While all clubs get injuries, we don’t have that many players,” said Ford about his current roster.
“Our strength and conditioning team are pretty good, but we have had a few instances of broken bones, which no one can do anything about.
“If you only have 20-odd players to start with, if four of them are out for example, then you have a problem.
“Going forward, we will have a little bit more depth in our squad so that when we do get a few injuries, it’s not so much of a challenge.”
Batley visit Dewsbury on Sunday.
