Alright, so the £400k profit they declared doesn’t equal any actual money then, so we’ll forget about that, it’s only what made their financials look so good for their IMG gradings. What about the £700k extra funding they got over 2 other clubs last season? Was that not actual money as well? Why not invest that into the pitch?

Does their elite academy account for around £1.1m (2025 "profit" + extra central funding)? As is a full sized pitch.

But what if I'd told the Mrs I had a really good year at work and made a huge profit, plus I'd been paid twice as much as my competitors, then said we couldn't afford the work cos I'd spent it all on "entertainment"?

But they made a load of profit the other year and got £700k more than 2 other teams that finished well above them. Why couldn't they do both?

No problem with some of the acts they had on, whether I liked the others is not the issue or the point. They clearly couldn't afford them as well as the desperately needed ground improvements, but they thought it a better decision to spend money on Bad Boy Chiller Crew & Tom Zanetti when they could have saved up for some groundworks and turf. It's like me having a big old party with my mates round my house rather than sorting the garden out, despite me promising the Mrs I'd be spending the money on landscaping.

Bradford were always exempt from relegation due to their incredible IMG score, hence them agreeing to go to Vegas. They should have invested in the pitch while they could but instead they wasted money on "entertainment" and poor quality players. £700k down the swanny when it should have been spent on the main thing Bradford needed.

I'm not whinging about reduced funding, it didn't affect either Toulouse or York in the end and we'll both be better clubs for the experience. Why didn't Bradford spend the extra £700k they got last season (when they were totally immune from relegation, unlike York & Toulouse) on making the pitch fit for purpose? They had double the money handed to them (mainly because they gamed the system, including using Odsal's facilities to do that) but were the worst team in the league, may as well have invested in the ground but no, spent it all on ex-Salford players, pre-match entertainment and fireworks. That's on your club's poor management of finances. I'm not bothered at all about the other aspects of Odsal, I go to watch games but the games there are not very good when played on a pitch that is 13m narrower than most others, it's just a fact.

It's totally unacceptable in my opinion, their pitch is not big enough and everyone knows it. They assured us all they'd be sorting it and now it won't be cos they want to spend the money on players instead. They had twice the central funding of York & Toulouse and still finished bottom, so there's £700k there that could have gone towards the pitch and I went last year and had to endure pyrotechnics and some idiot singing & dancing, surely they could have saved what they spent on stuff like that all season and put it towards making the pitch suitable to play elite RL on?

Might need to look at opening the North Stand as well then.

They did win because of an amazing defensive effort yes, but the two yellows could have quite easily been reds and I’ve never seen a more clear cut strip of the ball that lead to an “inconclusive challenge”. Actually laughable that one.

Tremendous performance that, the desire the win was something else. Really pleased for everyone involved in making York Valkyrie the best they can be. Not one to bag the officials but that was some of the most ridiculous refereeing decisions I’ve seen. Should have been at least 1 red for Wigan and that inconclusive challenge was actually laughable, thankfully it didn’t cost us in the end. It really is some club we’ve got now.
