  1. A SL club needs an effective commercial department, ticket office etc with at least a dozen competent full-time staff. Most operate with a couple of FT staff, if that, and offices that only open a couple of days a week. It isn't simply recruitment either but a completely different business structure and culture. Buying players is the easy bit.
  2. I really enjoyed this game - maybe not up on the NRL pedestal that some aspire to but thoroughly enjoyable. And not wishing to bring the world down upon my head but I thought the referee had a very good game - mostly he made quick decisions and didn't take much chat from the players. More like this, please.
  3. You expertise in all things shining through again, Harry.
  4. I don't know how long you have been watching for but my memories include televised games where obviously concussed players were simply a source of amusement to the commentators as well as referees ignoring injured players unless they were getting in the way.
  5. Was he doing anything illegal? Would you like to list any other behaviours for which you would ban referees?
  6. As has been mentioned before spending a lot of money on players wages doesn't create a SL club. Notwithstanding the cost of a squad the scale of operation required for a SL club is much, much greater than any Championship club currently has, and that probably includes London. (Some SL clubs might be trying to operate with a Championship infrastructure and failing though, but that's another story.)
  7. Your question is effectively answered in my post that you quoted - there is zero incentive for Championship clubs to do so.
  8. Under the current system the main beneficiaries of these are SL clubs who can pick up any decent players from Championship clubs for virtually nothing. Given the general shortage of funds at Championship level how could those clubs justify such investment?
  9. Some clubs, including mine (Dewsbury) pay the contracted amount over 12 months.
  10. Watched by 200 spectators. Level 4 next season, mind.
  11. "Return" - when was it ever amateur?
  12. Whoever wins I predict that Powell will moan about it. (I'd love to be a fly on the wall when his wife serves up his tea.)
  13. Two virtual walkovers for London and Widnes.
