  1. It was. I like to check stuff that's written on here as it gives you a good idea of who talks sense and, well, who doesn't. So it seems only right I check things before I post. I'm currently working on what constitutes a "small club" and Google's AI Mode is giving me a few ideas on the relative success of Warrington and Wakefield. To be fair, it's only going up to the late 60s for Wakefield so I'll wait for the internet to be updated before posting anything on that topic.
  2. Whilst I understand the underlying sentiment of the post, Brad O'Neill played for Halton Farnworth Hornets from at least U14s.
  3. I'm hoping it was just coincidence that it was Leyland who was on the receiving end.
  4. James Lowes to Tony Smith as Warrington Head Coach in 2009.
  5. Fewer. No spelling of forwards. Once they're off, they're off. This will benefit those who are skilful and fast, rather than the seventeen stone, lumbering, metre-gaining giants that are far too prevalent in the game.
  6. Aaron Bower's article is worth a read just for highlighting McManus's previous comments about Nigel Wood. I'd perhaps pay a little more attention to what McManus says if I didn't already regard him as sulky and petulant. Wembley 2019 Officiating Complaints He's undoubtedly got an impressive set of skills in other areas, but public harangues from such a senior position very rarely work out well.
  7. The whole point of the video ref is to assist in getting the correct decision. The current protocols don't do that. We should return to how it used to be. If it isn't clear on the field and it requires video ref involvement then let them make the decision. With the different angles, slow-mo, etc., it's much more likely they will reach the correct/most probable outcome.
  8. Is there a potential problem with the existing player contracts? I believe there are, usually, Standard Clauses in there relating to a player being able to move to another Super League club (or even be released by a club) should they not be in Super League/the highest tier. So when teams finish ninth to twelth after Round 23 and drop to Tier 2, will all their players be available for 'free'? The above is not a statement of fact, I was just wondering?!
  9. Can we start the debate about the changes in 2018 now or should we wait for a bit?
  10. I thought that last night was possibly Cooper's best performance so far for Warrington. A tremendous achievement for a young man who's family have been through a terribly difficult and emotional period. Well done Mike. I agree though with many of the other posters that he'll miss out for Carvell. At least he has his winner's medal from last year. He may not be everybody's two pints of terrible lager, but I reckon Vinnie Anderson has done a very good job this season and probably warrants his place in the 17. What may count against him is simply the fact that he's not at Warrington next season and Smith may decide it's best to have him upset than somebody who'll be in the camp in the future. I too think Myler may be the one to miss out, but that would be an incredibly big call to make for Tony Smith. Not for Bridge though, I suspect Clarke may be Briers's half-back partner.
  11. I've waded through eight pages and am still not sure what all the disagreement is about. Wigan and Warrington occupy the top two places, Friday's game attracted the highest attendance of the season and the match itself, though not perhaps reaching the quality of the first meeting earlier in the season, was intense and exciting enough to live in the memory for some time and would certainly have impressed any casual viewers catching the game on Sky or on 3D. Am I missing several points? And yes, a Warrington fan should be used to that after all these years...
