VIEWERS who tuned in to Sky Sports on Saturday evening to watch Hull KR’s 34-0 win over Huddersfield Giants will have noticed something different to the norm.
Instead of Dave Woods, Mark Wilson, Stuart Pyke or Rod Studd, they had a different voice to listen to with Rupert Cox taking the lead as commentator.
And the Australian proved to be a popular choice with rugby league fans, receiving positive reviews on social media.
Cox is more familiar with rugby union, having done considerable commentary for governing body World Rugby on the Rugby World Cup and the Under-20s version, plus the sevens tour HSBC SVNS.
He has also worked for TNT Sports and NBC Sports, plus IMG Media and Irish broadcaster eir Sport.
Cox studied History at the University of Wellington before successfully completing a Graduate Diploma at the University of Technology in Sydney.
