A SALFORD RED DEVILS supporters group have accused assistant coach Krisnan Inu of “betrayal” following his staunch defence of the club’s ownership.
Inu came out in support of Saia Kailahi and Curtiz Brown following a major fan backlash against the pair.
The 1873, a newly-formed supporter group, will lead a protest against the ownership at Sunday’s Super League game against Wakefield Trinity.
Salford assistant coach Krisnan Inu defended the owners, including Kailahi – a friend since childhood – in a press conference on Wednesday.
He said: “Their intentions have always been for the club, the community and the people.”
Inu also claimed that “if they didn’t come I think we would have fallen apart a long time ago”.
The 1873 issued a scathing response to Inu’s comments, saying: “His public support for the very people responsible for this situation is an insult to those who have been left without wages and to the fans who have endured seven months of broken promises.”
They also called his defence of Salford’s ownership “a betrayal of the values this club stands for”.
