HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS will head into derby action at home to Wakefield Trinity on Sunday seeking an above-average attendance, with a range of initiatives designed to drive up the gate.
Fans won’t be seeing new Giants captain Adam Clune or his fellow back Niall Evalds, with the pair again hit by injuries in yet another blow for coach Luke Robinson, who had to deal with a string of absences last year when his side finished tenth.
They were beaten three times by Wakefield, with one of those losses in round four of the Challenge Cup, and two of them at home.
The club’s average crowd was 4,226, down by more than 300 on 2024.
And Huddersfield, who have said they are leaving the Accu Stadium at the end of this season with a long-term vision of building their open ground, are working to reverse that trend as part of their ‘Unleashed’ campaign.
For the Wakefield clash, they are running a ‘bring a friend’ for free scheme for season-card holders and offering free entry to season-card holders from stadium owners Huddersfield Town Football Club.
And the Giants’ fan zone will be base around the H-Town facility, which has proved a hit with football supporters.
