HULL KR coach Willie Peters said he was both “proud” and “disappointed” following their 26-20 defeat at Catalans Dragons.
His side fought back from 14 points down to draw level, only to concede a try in the penultimate minute.
Peters said: “It was a rollercoaster ride for us.
“I’m proud of the players for the way they stuck in and the way they came back but we made it hard for ourselves.
“We spoke at half-time that we wanted to build a bit of pressure and we didn’t do that early in the second half.
“We did start to do that later in the second half and started to score some points, then we were trying to look for the quick fix to win that game, unfortunately for Jack (Broadbent) at the end trying to force that ball after that line break (leading to Lenny Marc’s winner).
“As I said, I’m proud of them for having that fight to come back but obviously disappointed too. We’re looking for the quick fix too much and to score the quick try or a quick win.
“It didn’t happen for us tonight but Catalans played extremely well, they’re a good team. We knew what we were going to get tonight.”
It’s now three defeats from four in Hull KR’s Super League title defence.
“We’ve have a difficult start in terms of getting some momentum, we’ve had three losses so it’s not ideal where we sit but it’s always how we come back,” said Peters.
“There’s a bit to like about this performance but obviously there’s a lot that we didn’t like, but we’ll review it and go back home next week (they host St Helens on Friday).
“We’ve got a few home games now so that will be good for us as we haven’t played at home yet this year.”
