LONDON BRONCOS have Australian halfback Connor O’Beirne on board until at least 2028, by which time they hope to be competing at the top end of Super League.
The 29-year-old joined the current Championship leaders as they scrambled to put together a squad for the 2025 second-tier campaign in the wake of the loss of top-flight status and the withdrawal of then-owner David Hughes.
Along with the likes of Sadiq Adebiyi, Lewis Bienek, Will Lovell and Liam Tindall, O’Beirne provided a bridge between the old and new Broncos bankrolled by Australian duo Grant Wechsel and Darren Locker.
A former police officer Down Under who was a part-timer with Toukley Hawks in the Central Coast Rugby League competition, he represented Carcassonne and Lezignan in France before helping Maitland Pickers win the 2024 Newcastle Rugby League title, then heading to the UK.
O’Beirne made 18 appearances last season and has continued to impress this time around, with coach Jason Demetriou explaining: “He has impressed with attitude, ability and his character.
“As we push for Super League in 2027, I’m excited to see him establish himself at the next level.”
O’Beirne said: “London has become home, and this is just the beginning.”
