Barrow Raiders adopt The Killers song as club anthem

BARROW RAIDERS are ready to turn up the volume, with fans urged to back Paul Crarey’s side as they bid to stay among the contenders at the top end of the table.

The Cumbrians are up to fourth after winning at Doncaster then at home to Hunslet in the space of five days.

The Raiders have eleven regular-season matches remaining, six at their Speed Competitions Stadium, where the PA system is being upgraded.

And ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’, by American rock band The Killers, has been adopted as a club anthem, with fans urged to sing along.

“We want the stadium to be bouncing,” a spokesperson told local newspaper The Mail.

“We want to unashamedly copy other clubs who have their own song and, following extensive research, we have chosen the best stadium anthem not used by any other Rugby League team.

“We want to improve the gameday experience and intend to create a singing zone.”

The next home match is against Sheffield on Saturday, June 13, after Barrow head to county rivals Workington this Sunday seeking an eleventh win in 14 league outings.

Crarey was pleased with the way his players responded to the short turnaround between the victories over Doncaster (36-12) and Hunslet (36-22).

“We got off to a great start against Hunslet, but then there was a period where we looked fatigued,” he said.

“The momentum changed, Hunslet are a good footballing side, we didn’t have the ball for a while and they scented blood.

“We had to break that momentum, and I think (Australian backrower) Ryan King did that. I thought he was outstanding, a nearly 80-minute performance for the second game running.

“Just to get the win was all we wanted to make it worthwhile week.”
