Hull FC prop Garreth Carvell has been ruled out of his side’s trip to former club Warrington this weekend.
The 32-year-old played just 18 minutes of the Airlie Birds’ defeat to St Helens last week and has complained of soreness in his ankle, which has now swelled up. Carvell is adamant he wants to play but coach Lee Radford wants the former Great Britain front-rower to focus on the next match, which would be against the club he walked out on, Bradford Bulls.
“He’s putting his hand up to play but he knows he has to do what’s best for the team and best for himself, so we’ll hold him back and hope he’s back for the Bradford game next week,” he said.
