ALFIE JOHNSON will join Castleford Tigers for 2027.
The 25-year-old has excelled for the Halifax Panthers during the current Championship, scoring eight tries in ten appearances following his move from Warrington Wolves.
Former England and Great Britain rugby sevens player Johnson switched codes to join the Wolves ahead of last season but made just two appearances.
He spent time on loan with Widnes Vikings and London Broncos before exiting the Cheshire club on a permanent basis ahead of the 2026 campaign.
“I am incredibly excited to be joining Castleford next season” said Johnson. “It’s a historic club with super passionate fans and I can’t wait to get around the place.
“Speaking with Ryan Carr and Chris Chester and hearing their vision going forward made this decision really easy. What they both see in my game, and the areas I can keep on developing is really exciting for me. I’m buzzing to get in the building and looking forward to meeting you all!”
Tigers head coach Carr said: “It’s great to have Alfie joining us in 27. He’s only just at the beginning of his Rugby League journey and we know there is a lot of growth and untapped potential in him.
“He brings a unique skill set to our team and we are excited to add that to our playing group.”
Johnson will form part of a new-look Castleford in 2027 with St George Illawarra Dragons trio Mat Feagai, Damien Cook and Tyrell Sloan all making the move to the OneBore Stadium, alongside Leigh Leopards pair Robbie Mulhern and Ben McNamara.
Tyler Dupree, Jack Brown and Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e all joined the Tigers earlier this year.
